Integrated colour in the office

Océ launches new colour product line

Venlo, the Netherlands, 1 August 2006 — In today’s competitive business environment, fast and effective communication is the key to success. More colour is being used to improve communication effectively. So how can the use of colour improve business performance without unacceptable printing cost? Whether a document is being printed, copied, faxed or scanned, it needs to be processed fast and easy and for the lowest possible cost. That’s what today’s business demands—and what people in the office really need. The new Océ CS175/191 systems—modular and multifunctional for printing, copying, scanning and faxing in colour and black & white— fulfil these requirements. The powerful combination of the new Océ CS175/191 series and the Océ VarioPrint systems for the office meets diverging office document needs and enhances the way people work.

Office environment changing fast

Three major trends are impacting the office environment right now: the migration from desktop printing to corporate workgroup or departmental printing; the integration of multiple office functions in digital devices and the growth of colour in the office. The new Océ CS175/191 multifunctional colour printers responds to all these trends by taking the lead in functionality, quality and cost—an ideal solution for the professionally-minded office user.

Flexible investment for improved office communication

‘The use of colour in the office today is widely accepted. But, there is still a fear that the combination of complexity and high cost makes investing in colour a difficult choice,’ says Edgar Beers, International Product Manager at Océ. ‘Océ has re-evaluated the office environment to experience what is really important. The need for colour printers cannot be denied, but by optimising the way people work, major cost reductions can be achieved as Océ is showing with the Professional Office Programme. And with the Océ CS series, printing full colour is as easy as printing black and white.’

Best balance of functionality, quality and cost

Following the Océ approach for lower document cost while improving flexibility, the Océ CS175/191 series of multifunctional devices combines ease of use with high quality colour output at low cost. The standard features provide network printing, high speed scanning and copying, while faxing and extended finishing capabilities can easily be added. Where needed, colourful brochures, booklets, presentations and reports can be produced with ease of use. The newly developed print technology and polymerised toner ensures a high image quality and the convenience of high quality office documents at low cost every time.

Easy to operate by any office and IT user

However sophisticated the functionality may be, no office colour solution will be worth its salt if it is difficult to use. Office users need quick and easy access to printing, copying, scanning and faxing functions—and the Océ CS175/191 series delivers the goods. The user interface is easy to understand and convenient to use. All jobs can be sent to a personal user box saving on average 10% paper compared to direct printing on desktop and workgroup printers. A single Windows family driver prints to the complete Océ office portfolio—colour included. And since no special skills are required, office users can easily replace the parts needed to keep the CS175/191 printing and keeping service attention—and cost—to a bare minimum.

Wide range of print applications

From paper input to document output, the capabilities are impressive. The Océ CS175/191 series prints any paper from A6 to A3 straight from the tray—and any weight from 64-256 g/m². The wide choice of finishing options enables readymade documents to be produced via online stapling, sorting, booklet-making and punching functionality. And the A4 paper capacity of up to 3,650 sheets is sufficient to deal with any office job.

Versatile scanning and faxing functionality

The Océ CS175/191 series performs equally well as a scanner and fax. It scans 50 A4 pages per minute and automatically directs files to a hard disk, email or FTP server. The Box Utility software enables user scans to be easily managed on the system’s hard disk while an LDAP connection automatically looks up email addresses in the corporate database. Last but not least, the G3 fax functionality allows faxes to be sent and received the way office workers are used to.

Accountability in document production

Job accounting is the key to keeping document production costs under control, especially in colour usage. The Océ CS175/191 series allows an administrator to organise, control and keep track of document production. An account for printing, copying and scanning can be set up for each user. The system can produce accounting data or be integrated into external accounting systems. The bottom line is full cost control and maximal cost savings—with no compromises.

Full office line-up

The Océ CS175/191 colour multifunctional series will be regularly available in Europe from July 2006. Its launch further enhances Océ’s lineup of digital multifunctional printing systems. Together with the Océ CS171, CS171P, Océ CS230, MP and Océ VarioPrint systems, Océ meets all digital printing demands from the office to the production environment in colour and black & white.
