Pandemic Preparedness

Although there are still uncertainty related to if and how the so called “Swine Flu” may hit our different Nordic Countries, Océ has taken actions to be prepared if it hits hard, i.e. becomes a pandemic.

The pandemic may also hit with different intensity in the different markets we operate in.
We have obligations towards our customers. Defined actions is planned to give priority towards all software support, service maintenance and on-site operations related to securing the customers’ document processes into which Océ is involved.
It is an advantage to our customers to know that we have an integrated Nordic organisation directly employing more than 180 persons to meet customers’ daily requirements. These resources have already been instructed on how to behave to reduce risks of becoming sick;

  • through general information as issued by local health authorities as well as guidelines as issued by the Océ Headquarter in the Netherlands and

  • through information for the specific functions, such as:

    • increased attention on remote support

    • more direct travel between home and customers

    • no internal meetings and

    • definition of back-up resources for key persons.

Our different business units as well as functional management are instructed to team up to work across departmental and national borders to maximise efficient utilisation of resources.

Behind us, the Nordic Operating companies, we have Océ Corporate and our sister companies in Europe. Through corporate guidelines on pandemic preparedness each country and site are instructed on how to behave, how to communicate and report as well as how to set priorities.

Océ resources, not generally directly involved in customer on-site service, support and operations, with relevant competencies, will, if required, be made available to add additional back-up to 1st line services.

We all do hope the Pandemic will be less dramatic than the worst predicted scenarios, however, it is our duty to be prepared. If it does hit hard, there will be a challenge, independent of our preparatory actions taken, however, our clear target is to limit potential consequences as much as possible.
